Overview

This trek leads you south towards the small town of Jagatsukh, which was once the capital of Kullu Valley. Here are some ancient temples worth a visit. From here the trail climbs steadily through evergreen forests and meadows with numerous streams towards the village Khanol. Then further to one of the most famous peaks in Kullu district - the Deo Tibba (6001 m). An easy trek with some of the most beautiful walks in Manali region.

Day 01 Arrival in Manali, Drive from Manali to Chhika (10,100ft) (3km)

The fun and excitement of this amazing Chandratal Lake Trek with Hampta Pass begins with your arrival in Manali. 11:00 AM Move to sethan the last roadhead via taxi from base camp at Larankelo/Manali. Start trekking from Jobri nallah. Than cross the stream and keep walking aside the river till Chhika. First day of the trek is easy through wild forests of oak, birch and fir trees, settle down in the base camp and retire for the night.

Day 02 Trek from Chika to Balu ka Ghera (11,900ft)

Timings as same as the previous day. After a wholesome and nourishing breakfast, set on an easy trekking trail that is supremely impressive! Today, you’ll experience the true beauty of the Himalayas as you set eyes for the very first glimpse of towering snow-capped peaks.Chhika to Balu ka Ghera is a moderate trek about 5-7 hours. In between we have to cross the freezing river once on the way and climb the gradual hike. These are the Dhauladhar ranges, the outer Himalayan chain of mountains. Walk through flowering meadows and valleys that create a delightful picture-perfect scenery for you to revel in. Cross a log bridge; over a fast flowing mountain stream, cautiously to arrive at Balu ka Ghera, the hibernating grounds for the great Himalayan brown bear followed by overnight stay in camps. Balu ka Ghera is a beautiful camping site with mesmerizing sunsets.

Day 3 Trek from Balu ka Gera to Shea gohru (12,900ft) crossing Hampta Pass (14,100ft)).

This days trek is the hardest, because you trek steep incline till the pass and then the downhill to the next camp at Shea Gohru. The beauty at the top of the pass is unforgettable and one can see the valley below from where he had started. The altitude of the pass is pretty much high as 4227m. so one could have breathing problems, but not to worry we have all the medical facilities such as portable oxygen cylinders, pulsemeters and medical kits with trained guides. Once we have crossed the pass we enter into the totally different valley of Lahoul and Spiti. The camp is just few hours below the pass. The downhill has loose rocks on the way so one has to be careful while walking downwards. Shea Gohru is a beautiful location but with strong winds and freezing nights.

Day 4 Trek from Shea gohru to Chhatru (11,000ft), Drive from Chatru to Chandra Tal

From Shea Gohru we have to cross the river once and descend alongside the river on the stone slopes. After reaching to the base of the mountain the route is flat and have to cross the stream via a temporary bridge made by the trekkers. Soon the road will appear which will lead you to Chatru. After lunch visit to Chandratal Lake by taxi. Spend some time taking pictures, explore around the beauty of majestic lake. The Chandra Tal Lake will serve as the main attraction for the day! A high altitude moon-shaped lake, it is located at an altitude of 14,100ft and is a delight for the visitors. Exploring and discovering the stunning beauty of the lake. Head back to Chatru where we will stay overnight.

Day 5 Drive from Chhatru to Manali.

In the morning after breakfast wind up the camp and start back to Manali via Rohtang pass. After reaching at manali group will break and head towards their willing destinations.

  • Down jacket, all-season sleeping bag, duffel bag and trekking map(in case if you don’t have your own. Down jacket, sleeping bag and duffel bag must be returned after completion of the trip)
  • First Aid Medical Kit(Your guide will carry the Medical Kit but we also advise to bring yourself for your own use, as far as possible)
  • All the required permits and paperwork

All bookings for the tours/treks/camps/ with Himachal Tour and Treks, hereinafter referred to as the "Company" are subject to the following conditions:

  • 1. Every participant is required to fill in and sign an "Indemnity Bond" prior to the commencement of the trip.
  • 2. All cancellations must be in writing signed by the participant and will be effective from the date of receipt by the company.
  • 3. Refund and cancellation:
    There will be no full refund.
    - If you cancel 7 days before the trip begins Himachal Tour and Treks will retain 30% of the trip cost.
    - If you cancel 5 days before the trip begins, Himalayan Yeti Adventure will retain 40% of the trip cost.
    - If you cancel less than 7 days before the trip begins, or, are not present when the trip begins, there will be no-refund
    - No refund will be payable to any client who voluntarily leaves a trip en-route.
  • 4. The company reserves the right to alter details of the services, facilities, tour/trek and vehicle described in the itinerary at any time, when deemed necessary, reasonable and advisable. During the programme, the decision of the Guide will be final and binding.
  • 5. Maximum efforts are made to ensure the safety of the participant. But Please understand there are certain hazards involved in your adventure holidays which you must accept at your own risk. The company will not be liable for any major illness, injury, death sustained during the trip, nor it will be liable for any uninsured losses of your property.
  • 6. In case any participant falls sick during the programme, the medical, travel, porter and any other expenses has to be borne by the concerned individual. However, primary medical facilities will be made available wherever possible.
  • 7. Any damage, other than that attributable to fair wear and tear, to the equipments by the participants will be billed to you. Our decision on all such matters will be final and binding.
  • 8. In the event of any dispute, all matters will be subject to the sole jurisdiction of the courts of Manali, Himachal Pradesh and the prevailing law of India shall prevail. Recourse to the courts of any other country will not be applicable.
