In between we have to cross the freezing river once on the way and climb the gradual hike. These are the Dhauladhar ranges, the outer Himalayan chain of mountains. Walk through flowering meadows and valleys that create a delightful picture-perfect scenery for you to revel in. Cross a log bridge; over a fast flowing mountain stream, cautiously to arrive at Balu ka Ghera, the hibernating grounds for the great Himalayan brown bear followed by overnight stay in camps. Balu ka Ghera is a beautiful camping site with mesmerizing sunsets.
This days trek is the hardest, because you trek steep incline till the pass and then the downhill to the next camp at Shea Gohru. The beauty at the top of the pass is unforgettable and one can see the valley below from where he had started. The altitude of the pass is pretty much high as 4227m. so one could have breathing problems, but not to worry we have all the medical facilities such as portable oxygen cylinders, pulsemeters and medical kits with trained guides. Once we have crossed the pass we enter into the totally different valley of Lahoul and Spiti. The camp is just few hours below the pass. The downhill has loose rocks on the way so one has to be careful while walking downwards. Shea Gohru is a beautiful location but with strong winds and freezing nights.
From Shea Gohru we have to cross the river once and descend alongside the river on the stone slopes. After reaching to the base of the mountain the route is flat and have to cross the stream via a temporary bridge made by the trekkers. Soon the road will appear which will lead you to Chatru. After lunch visit to Chandratal Lake by taxi. Spend some time taking pictures, explore around the beauty of majestic lake. The Chandra Tal Lake will serve as the main attraction for the day!
